Columbarium
The Columbarium is a permanent structure in which niches hold interment urns. It fulfills, in an urban location, the traditional church function of providing space on church grounds for the disposition and identification of the earthly remains of those who have shared the faith and fellowship.
The surrounding area, known as Stuart Garden, provides a dignified place of peace and beauty for loved ones to meditate and pray.
The structure is made of Tishomingo stone, similar to the church buildings. Inside the columbarium are 84 double niches, each niche large enough to hold two urns. Each niche is covered with a granite plate, which will be engraved with the name(s) and date(s) of birth and death of the deceased.
To secure a niche, the purchaser must file an application and complete financial arrangements with the church office. The obituary of those placed is kept on file in the church records.
The Columbarium is reserved for use by church members and their immediate families or by approval of the Session.
