Yesterday’s project was split with the morning filled by cleaning a home for men who were once homeless, plus metally challenged. Everyday chores and the basics of “keeping house” are challenges after years of homelessness. Our teams have assisted by cleaning and organizing their apartments …. top to bottom!
The afternoon project was to help our home church, Grace United Methodist, in preparation for their VBS program later this summer.
All enjoyed a few hours riding the subway into downtown Boston siteseeing and checking out the shops!

Day 2 – My Brother’s Table
We split into groups today with mine being the “Cottontails”. It was comprised of six from and six from Detroit. Our task for the day was to work in a downtown soup kitchen, My Brother’s Table.
MBT serves two meals per day to anyone to come through their doors 365 days of the year.
They also offer medical and food delivery services to the community. Their mission is “to nourish our community everyday through hospitality, free meals and unconditional love.”
Our group was impressive as represented Tupelo well as performed a variety of tasks.
Other group served on different projects and updates on these will be coming soon!

Today was a travel day. Meeting at the church at 3am takes it’s toll as the attached photo shows. After leaving Memphis we bounced through Charlotte and arrived Boston about 4pm.
We are hosted by Grace Methodist Church in Lynn, MA and beginning to drag a bit after 17 hours to get here.
We join groups from Pennsylvania, Michigan, and South Dakota for week of service projects.

The FPC Boy’s basketball team takes on the FPC Men’s in the annual battle for superiority on the court! It all takes place at The FPC Community Life Center on Sunday, March 18th at 5:30pm. There will be concessions, raffles, and much family entertainment as the boy’s team, once again, tries to dismantle the dominance of the FPC men! Make plans to attend. This is a fund-raiser and all proceeds go towards our youth missions!
Marty Brunson of Catch-a-Dream Foundation will be our guest on Wednesday, February 7 at 6:15 p.m. following dinner in the Fellowship Hall.
Catch-A-Dream is a national charitable, non-profit, foundation that provides once-in-a-lifetime hunting and fishing trips to children age 18 and younger, across the United States and Canada, who suffer from life-threatening illnesses. Through these adventures and exposure to outdoors-minded people who care, the program instills in these children a message of encouragement at a time when they need to know that hope does indeed exist.
